Janet G. Cervantes is an attorney on Varner & Brandt’s Labor & Employment Law and Business Litigation Teams in our Riverside office. Janet received her undergraduate degree from California State University, San Bernardino in 1999. She attended Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, obtained her Juris Doctorate in 2003, and was admitted to the California State Bar the same year.

Janet has legal experience handling cases concerning Insurance Defense, Workers Compensation, Elder Abuse, Construction Defect, Homeowner Association Representation, Labor Disputes, Collections, and has worked as a Neutral Mediator.

In addition to her admission to practice law in the State of California, Janet is admitted to practice law before the United States District Court of California, Central Division.

While attending Pepperdine Law School, Janet completed a semester at Pepperdine’s London Program in South Kensington, where she attended hearings at the Parliament, Crown Courts, European Parliament in Brussels and Strasbourg, the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, the International Criminal Court, the International Court of Justice, and the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals at The Hague, Netherlands.

Janet participated in Moot Court competition, with and against British law students in the Royal Courts of Justice and the Inns of Court. She also participated in an International Externship Program in downtown London.

Janet also obtained her Certificate in Dispute Resolution while working toward her Juris Doctor Degree at Pepperdine’s nationally ranked #1 Straus Institute of Dispute Resolution. Janet ranked highest in one of her Dispute Resolution courses and earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Alternative Dispute Resolution – Interviewing, Counseling and Planning

Janet has 2 young sons, Hunter and Brandon.
